Also overnight Australia’s Track Cycling Queen Anna Meares defeated Britain’s Victoria Pendleton in a superb display of speed and tactics. Meares was awarded the first leg of the final after Pendleton was relegated, but the Australian proved the decision was sound by thrashing Pendleton in the second race.
